The u-13 hornets found many ways to cap off an exciting weekend of tournament baseball. The u-13 hornets #2 seed won the Orangevale Father’s Day Tournament ( u-14 pony division ) going 3-1 and winning the championship game 22 to 11 vs. #1 seed citrus heights. The hornets were led by tournament MVP Casey Whitsell, who pitched 9 innings of 4 hit, 2 earned runs ball. He also played a solid 3rd base and went 8 for 18 @ the plate with 9 RBI’s for the hornets. All tournament players also included Coleton Brenner ( grand slam walk off hr sat vs. Orangevale ) , Josh Holland ( 8 for 15 with 5 doubles ) , Ryan Manning ( 6 RBI’s and threw 7 innings of 7 hit ball with only 3 earned runs allowed) and catcher Raymond Zaragoza ( who is in his last 3 weeks with our program, as his family gets ready to move to Mexico ). Raymond will be missed and especially from coach Alec’s perspective..” I have had Raymond since he was 11 years old. He was raw, almost un-coachable and just a pain in my rear end. Now, he is one of my hardest workers, a joy to be around and he blocks like a professional. I am going to miss the gato.”
